Playoff hockey returned to Bridgeport as the Sound Tigers and Connecticut Whale faced off in the quarterfinals of the Calder Cup playoffs.
Former Yale star and Greenwich native Sean Backman has been a big part of the Sound Tigers success this season.
The Sound Tigers had a bunch of chances in the first period. Both on the power play and even strength.
But they could could not put the puck in the goal. Sound Tigers 0-for-5 on the power play in the game.
After two uneventful periods, the Sound Tigers came apart in the third.
In the end, Bridgeport lost game one as the Whale scored three times in the third to pitch the shutout.
Game two is Saturday night in Bridgeport.
