One local recycling expert wants you to think twice before throwing away your cards, boxes and presents this holiday season. Paul Nonnenmacher, who works for the Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority, explains that the agency can take many of your recyclables and turn them into new products instead of garbage. During the holiday season, Nonnemacher says, people tend to forget about recycling because it's just not convenient, or people are just too busy. However, he says Connecticut residents need to stop and think before they throw something in the garbage because with the new recycling rules, chances are that it can be recycled. Nonnemacher says that if it's a food or beverage container, throw it in the recycling bin. Boxes, wrapping paper, bows, used cards and catalogues can also be recycled.
