Thousands attended the annual HarborFest Saturday to raise money to protect the Long Island Sound.
The event centers around the sound. Tons of sea faring adventures, like the harbor history boat ride and boat tour are on the docket, as well as an Under the Sea costume contest for furry friends.
"We reach over 30,000 students a year, 12 months a year to get people out on learning about Long Island Sound," said SoundWaters President Leigh Shemitz. "It makes their lives better, it protects the sound and that leads us right into HarborFest."
Booths enlightened the public on low impact, environmentally friendly solutions while demonstrations on composting and recycling helped show simple ways to help protect the environment.
There were thousands of oysters on tap from the sound. Attendees also played games like mini golf, cornhole and more.
