Thousands of Eversource customers in parts of western Connecticut lost power on Sunday.

Eversource told local officials that it's a regional problem involving transmission lines. The utility expected power to be restored Sunday night.

The bulk of the outages in the afternoon were reported in the Southbury area, but other towns were affected, including New Fairfield, New Milford, Brookfield and Woodbury.
