The nor’easter that battered the region overnight into Monday caused thousands of power outages across Connecticut.

“This is a constant evolving storm, where winds persist throughout the day,” explained Tricia Modifica, a spokesperson for Eversource.

The wind brought down trees and branches onto power lines and across streets, including a big one in Stratford. In Milford, 1,200 people and traffic lights lost power around 5:45 a.m., sending crews from both United Illuminating and Eversource from one job to another.

"The real impact started happening overnight, as the winds picked up, our crews were very busy overnight," said Modifica.

Eversource says it was ready and already in position, with an extra focus on crews near the coastline. They quickly responded to another outage in Stamford, which impacted over 100 people early in the morning.

"We have all hands on deck," said Modifica." "Hundreds of crews spread out around the state, ready to keep responding to this storm."

News 12 cameras also found more downed power lines in Fairfield, which caused over 130 customers to lose power, and another tree blocking the road and crashing into lines in Wilton, which knocked out power for more than 140 customers.

Eversource asks that anybody who loses power reports it to them – even if they think someone else might have already.
