Torrington's superintendent of schools says the start of the school year is being delayed a week to make up for a lack of state funding.
Schools were supposed to open Aug. 30, but that date has been pushed back to the week of Sept. 5.
There is no word on whether the date will revert back to Aug. 30 should the budget be passed by the end of the summer.
