A new program from Toyota is helping teens around the country stay safe behind the wheel with the help of some nifty technology.
The program, called TeenDrive365, allows teens to test out a distracted-driving simulation. One scenario asks them to take out their cellphone and attempt to type out a text message.
More often than not, a message will pop up saying the driver had just struck someone with their vehicle while distracted, a frequent occurrence for those using the simulator.
The program was held at the City World Toyota dealership, located on Boston Road.
Studies say drivers are 23 times more likely to crash if they are texting and driving, illustrating how important it is for young people to receive education regarding distracted driving.
