According to court documents, Encarnacion invited Ahmad to her home and Mateo, Sanchez and two others left Encarnacion’s apartment, all wearing masks and gloves. They exited the building and met Ahmad, who was sitting in his car.

Prosecutors say Encarnacion left her apartment shortly after the gunmen but stayed in the building's lobby.

Mateo and Sanchez held Ahmad at gunpoint and ordered him and his passenger to exit the car. Ahmad attempted to drive away when shots rang out, striking him once in the torso.

EMS took Ahmad to NYC Health+ Hospitals/Jacobi, where he died.

Prosecutors say Encarnacion returned to her apartment after the shooting.

Mateo, Sanchez and Encarnacion face additional charges, including manslaughter, attempted robbery and criminal possession of a weapon. They are due back in court Thursday.

Mateo faces separate charges for a gunpoint robbery that happened the next day at a laundromat in Norwood.
