Gov. M. Jodi Rell's annual truck safety crackdown is under way in Connecticut.State police and DMV inspectors started conducting three days of inspections at weigh stations across the state. Routes 84, 91, 95 and 395 are some of the interstate highways where checks are being done.Officials say they are looking for commercial trucks and buses that have major violations of federal and state laws. The violations can include being over the weight limit or having serious mechanical problems. Each full inspection takes about an hour to complete and there are nearly 200 items that are reviewed.Any vehicle that fails the test will immediately be placed out of service.
