Trumbull's first selectman released a statement addressing recent fights and arrests involving juveniles at the newly sold Trumbull Mall.
First Selectman Vicki Tesoro addressed the town in a statement Wednesday saying public safety has always been a top priority of her administration.

"Fights at the mall are not new. Unfortunately, this has been happening for decades, not only at the Trumbull Mall, but also at other area malls. However, that is no excuse for these events to continue. The mall is private property," Tesoro wrote.
"My office and the police have always worked with the mall owners to ensure the safety of everyone who works and shops there. The mall was recently sold, and we met immediately with the new owners."
"One of our first orders of business was to discuss mall security and we will continue to do so."
Tesoro added that to prevent more incidents from happening again, there needs to be adequate security.
She says the new mall owners plan on providing their own security in addition to the town's police officers who will have a presence at the mall.
