UConn Athletics and Two Roads Brewing are coming together for the first time on a beer they say is perfect for any time you're cheering on the Huskies.
Jonathan the Husky was on hand at the Stratford brewery Tuesday, along with other UConn dignitaries, to help with the inaugural batch. Two Roads distributor, Star, brought the two giants together earlier this year.
The first production batch of “TwoConn” will be hitting area bars and restaurants early next month.
Brewers say TwoConn is less hoppy and more drinkable than your average craft brew. They say it's meant to bring all of Connecticut together, just like UConn Athletics.
Brewmaster Phil Markowski says this is one that's not just for the craft beer snobs.
"If one is drinking it at their favorite UConn Athletics event, you want your attention on the game, not necessarily analyzing the beer that you're drinking. So, it's a true crowd pleaser,” says Markowski.
As part of their deal with Star Distributors, UConn will now be pouring Two Roads beer at Gampel Pavilion for all men's and women's basketball games.
