The University of Connecticut today approved plans to add student housing at the Stamford campus.
School officials say the new UConn dorm is good news for the school and prospective students.
Administrators say the college was in desperate need of additional housing.
The dorm is expected to boost enrollment.
It will be two blocks from the Stamford campus on Washington Boulevard.
Officials say there will be a total of 116 apartments that will fit up to 350 students.
They say the building will also have retail space on the ground floor, but the developer will keep control of that.
UConn says the new dorms are expected to be open for the fall 2017 school year.
