Fairfield National won its opening game of the Little League World Series 1-0 over Texas, with Luca Pellegrini striking out 11 batters and only allowing one hit.
Hundreds of hometown fans watched the game at Elicit Brewing Co. in Fairfield.
“For these guys, it’s just unbelievable to see,” said John Gallucci, of Fairfield. “They make all of us super, super proud.”
Fairfield plays Hawaii in the winners bracket Friday night at 7 p.m.
“Spirits are high,” says Sam Patrignelli. “Everyone is just super excited.”
