Bridgeport parents are spending more to send their kids back to school this year as the district's uniform policy takes effect.
Students from kindergarten to eighth grade will now be mandated to wear khaki bottoms and a polo or dress shirt in white or school colors. While a group of parents pushed for the uniform policy in the first place, others now say they have to spend more to clothe their children for school.
"I am barely paying the bills now ? to be able to do it on top of this there is no way," says mother of two Shirley Serrano.
