Where can you go for care in case of an illness or injury?

Dr. Jeannie Kenkare of Yale New Haven Urgent Care in Fairfield says urgent care is for unplanned illnesses and injuries that are not life threatening. She says the emergency room should be reserved for events that require a higher level of care, such as heart attack, stroke, severe head injury or severe bodily injury.

Kitchen injuries like burns and lacerations are typically seen during the holidays, she said.
