Westport is celebrating one of its own, long-time resident Paul Newman, who now has a new honor from the U.S. Post Office.
An enlarged version of the new Paul Newman stamp was unveiled Wednesday night in Westport.
The stamp went on sale last month and features a picture of the award-winning actor and philanthropist from 1980.
The Postal Service chose to honor Newman for his charitable giving and his acting career, which spanned six-decades.
The head of Newman's charity says the recognition is really about Newman's generosity.
A special pictorial postmark for the Newman stamp is available at the Westport Post Office on Post Road for just the next 60 days.
