4h agoThe Department of Agriculture and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Fisheries unveiled the new Northeast Oyster Breeding Center.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the NOAA's Milford laboratory on Monday.
The new hatchery will allow for advanced agricultural research and breeding.
It's a win for Connecticut's shellfish industry which generates $30 million in sales each year and produces 200 thousand bushels of Oysters annually.
The City of Milford is set to host its 50th annual Oyster Festival on August 17.
