The cause of mysterious, explosive sounds last week in Stamford has still not been identified - but some wonder if an event Monday could be related.
The United States Geological Survey confirmed a 1.3 magnitude earthquake rattled parts of Stamford Monday.
"It’s scary," Stamford's Rachel Nelson says. "It’s uncomfortable to feel your house rattle and find out within minutes that your community has felt the same."
Officials couldn't confirm if the explosive sounds reported in the same area this past Thursday and Friday are related to the small earthquake.
“This is perplexing right now," Christine Cardone says. "I think it complicates the issue a little bit more."
Stamford Fire Chief Rex Morris says the department received more than two dozen phone calls following Monday's earthquake.
Fire officials say no injuries were reported, and the investigation once again found zero damage to any homes or buildings.
“We stand ready to handle fires, floods, car accidents," Chief Morris says. "Even an anomaly such as this because we’ll check it out."
Neighbors continue raising concerns about a major transmission line from the Tennessee Gas Pipeline that runs through the area, but the company claims everything on their end is running smooth.
“We need to find out what it is," Nelson says. "It’s really important that we know what it is."
Fire officials say you should always dial 911 if you feel or hear anything suspicious like an explosive sound.
