Volunteers from the veteran-led global disaster response organization Team Rubicon came to Bethany to help the community after tornadoes struck the area last month.
Most Team Rubicon volunteers are military veterans who help restabilize communities after natural disasters. About 30 volunteers arrived in Bethany on Friday.
"Just because my service is over doesn't mean my watch is over," says volunteer and Iraq War veteran Ryan Barkman. "I joined the service to serve my country, and I serve with Team Rubicon to serve my community."
In coordination with local and state authorities, volunteers cleaned up fallen trees and debris and temporarily patched roofs with tarps.
Team Rubicon has responded to more than 250 disasters, including Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria.
