Twelve years after Victoria Soto died protecting her students at Sandy Hook Elementary School, her legacy continues to inspire acts of kindness.
More than 100 teachers stood in line outside the Victoria Soto Foundation in Stratford Sunday to get free books for their students.
"With so many funding cuts and with chronic lack of money for educational needs, this book giveaway comes not a moment too soon," said elementary school teacher Mia Gonzalez. "It's amazing and we're so grateful."
Soto's brother said he's grateful for the chance to do something that carries on his sister's legacy.
"It's very meaningful for us," he said.
Organizers say the books were all donated.
