Video shows a former Milford pet day care employee physically abusing the animals in their care.

The video, shared with News 12 via Facebook, shows an employee of Bark Avenue Pet House kicking a dog, slamming a gate on another and pulling one by its tail.

The incident took place last June and was immediately reported to the owner of the day care, Mary Beth Stark. She told News 12 in a written statement that the employee was put on paid leave while Stark investigated, and then was fired in August.

Police say they have received calls from residents concerned about the day care but none from owners of the dogs in the pen at the time the video was taken. They say animal control is still investigating.
