The
Center for Family Justice brought domestic violence survivors and their supporters together Thursday night for a vigil in Bridgeport to honor those who have died from it.
The organization says it experienced a 25% increase in domestic violence cases since the start of the pandemic in March 2020. The vigil was held for 19 people who lost their lives to domestic violence this past year in Connecticut alone.
The organization says it also saw a 1,400% spike in hotel stays, where it puts people who are directly impacted by domestic violence in the last year.
The domestic abuse hotline can be reached at 203-384-9559 and the sexual abuse hotline at 203-333-2233.
