Volunteers came together in Bridgeport today to build a safe place for kids in the community to play. Community members came to Friendship Park today to install wooden poles in advance of tomorrow's plans to add playground equipment to the empty lot. About 200 volunteers are expected to come help build the playground tomorrow. The new play area, located across the street from Achievement First Bridgeport Academy, will be handicap-accessible and open to everyone in the community. Organizers say the playground will likely be finished tomorrow, but it will be three days before they're sure it's safe for the kids to use. People interested in volunteering can stop by Friendship Park tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m.
