Turkey Day is two weeks away but a new study by the Department of Environmental Protection says every day might by Turkey Day in Connecticut.

The DEP says this year?s milder spring and summer made it easier for turkey eggs to thrive, leaving 35,000 wild turkeys roaming the state. The department report also says the weather has made it easier for them to find things they like to eat like acorns and berries.

Ted Gillman of Audubon Greenwich says the increase in wild turkeys means the state is doing a good job of protecting the environment.

Gillman says when it starts to get cold, turkeys often travel in packs. He says he often goes a while without seeing any and then runs into a flock of 25.
