Footage provided by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department shows Midtown mass shooter Shane Devon Tamura's previous run-ins with law enforcement, including a 2023 arrest at a casino.

Tamura entered 345 Park Ave. in Midtown Manhattan on July 28 and opened fire inside of the high-rise office building. He was armed with an M4 semi-automatic rifle and killed four people before shooting and killing himself.

The victims included NYPD Detective Didarul Islam, Blackstone executive Wesley LePatner, security guard Aland Etienne and Rudin Management employee Julia Hyman.

Shane Tamura was arrested by police at the Red Rock Resort casino in Las Vegas on Sept. 27, 2023 for trespassing, disturbing the business, and refusing to show identification. Tamura allegedly refused to show his ID multiple times, once at the table where he was gambling and another time when he tried to collect his winnings worth approximately $5,000.

Police say Tamura refused to leave the property without collecting his winnings and was subsequently detained after Tamura reached out toward a security officer with his left hand. They add that Tamura was "obstructive" and ignored the sergeant's commands to comply with being detained.

Tamura was escorted out of the casino to a marked patrol vehicle before being advised to leave the property. Tamura refused to leave and repeatedly asked how he would get his money. He was told to contact corporate in the morning but disagreed and demanded his money. He was asked to leave again and was then arrested for "trespass after verbal warning".

Tamura was also approached by first responders at his place of residence due to a mental health crisis and suicidal comments on Aug. 10, 2024. The report states that Tamura said he was feeling suicidal due to numerous reasons including family issues.

It was reported that he did have a firearm but that the firearm was not present at the time of the interaction with emergency medical services. Body-camera footage shows Tamura complying with first responders and being taken from the home on a stretcher.

Tamura also has received two citations during a traffic stop on May 30, 2024. One citation was for operating an unregistered vehicle on public roads and another was for driving without a valid driver's license. The report claims that Tamura's drivers license was not valid as of May 14, 2024.
