Stamford residents continued to fear for their property Friday as police announced little progress in tracking down those behind a wave of tire slashings.
Police say vandals slashed tires on 25 cars, all in less than 48 hours. On Iroquois Road, 11 car owners found their tires flat, slashed and ruined. On the other side of town, 14 cars on Connecticut Avenue were found in the same condition.
Stamford police suspect the vandals might be children, but say they have few leads in the investigation. One witness says she heard what she thought were gunshots in the early morning, but the sound was actually exploding tires ? including those of her father and sister. Police are asking anyone with information to call police.
