Women facing major life changes like divorce, widowhood or retirement, often find their financial lives upended.

A roundtable discussion called, 'Take Control of Your Financial Future: Strategies for Women in Transition' at the Westport Library aims to give them the tools and confidence to plan for the next chapter.

"We want to be holistic and feel like it's a safe space to talk, which is why it's called a roundtable," explained Stacy Thomson, a financial advisor, "it won't be a presentation; it will be a discussion where you can ask questions where you may or may not be afraid to ask."

Annette Norton, who owns the Westport store, Savvy + Grace, is a year out from her divorce and says conversations like these are important.

"I moved to a completely different house; I had to put all my retirement funds and accounts in my name," said Norton, "I have to think about the lawn, too, it's all encompassing. After 24 years, everything changes, everything."

The event is free and open to the public. It will take place Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Westport Library.
