The Chief Medical Examiner's Office says a Westport woman killed herself and her daughter was drowned in a home Thursday.
Westport police were called to the home on Lyndale Park at around 4 p.m., on a report of an unresponsive female.
When police, fire and EMS personnel went inside, the woman was found dead. Police have identified the woman as Tracy Do, but the Chief Medical Examiner's Office identified her as Tracy Malon.
After checking the rest of the home, officials say the woman's 7-year-old daughter, Layla Malon, was found dead as well.
Documents show that there were several court cases between Do and her former partner, Eric Malon, about eviction, compensation and custody of their two children - Layla and 13-year-old Alexis Malon.
News 12 is told Layla Malon was a student at Coleytown Elementary School. The school and Stepping Stones Preschool were both closed Friday but opened for a couple hours to provide mental health services to parents and students.
First Selectman Jim Marpe says nothing like this has happened during his seven years in office. News 12 is told by a parent who knew Tracy Do that she was caring, a dedicated mom and an active PTA volunteer.
The parent went on to say this incident, "shows how much pain and hurt there was in the family... so tragic."
