Officials in the Town of Westport are planning to open several cafes as part of a downtown revitalization project. The Parks and Recreation Commission says it wants "pop-up" shops to populate current parking spaces. Officials say businesses will require "pop-up" permits that would allow seating to extend as far as 6 feet into the roadway. The stands would run from April until November, from 6:30 a.m. until after dark. Project organizers estimate the cafes could cost companies thousands of dollars each.
