Westport police search for gun used in armored driver robbery
Westport police are warning residents to stay alert as they search for the missing weapon.

Westport police are warning residents to use caution and contact authorities immediately if they spot the weapon used in an armed robbery outside the Wells Fargo Bank on Post Road East Thursday afternoon.
Two suspects are now in custody after allegedly robbing an armored car driver around 12:30 p.m. Police say the suspects, dressed in black and wearing masks, took off after a witness shouted for help. Officers chased them through several streets, even deploying stop sticks on Greens Farms Road, bringing the pursuit to an end.
Police recovered a handgun, a stolen set of keys from the armored driver and a scanner tossed from the car during the chase. However, the weapon used in the robbery has not been found.
Investigators believe it may have been discarded in or around the Compo Beach area.
Authorities say there will be a heavier police presence in the area as the search continues.
