Authorities have charged a Westport woman with cashing more than $20,000 in of fraudulent checks.
They say 32-year-old Jennifer Madrid stole the checks from a victim's office to support her drug habit.
Police say Madrid admitted to the crime and claimed she broke into the victim's locked office using a credit card.
They say 35 checks were cashed in the incident.
Madrid has been charged with larceny, burglary and 35 counts of forgery.
