A Westport woman is building mental health awareness through her online business.

Kate Kenny created Costal Customs to sell beach apparel.

Kenny, a nursing student, says the name comes from the Latin word "costal" which means "ribs," which protect the body.

She says the beach has always helped protect her mental health.

"I struggled a lot, especially during COVID in high school. I feel like many girls my age did and I think it's really important to talk about and finding things that make you feel good and bring you little bits of comfort and happiness. It's so important," Kenny says.

Kenny also adds that the best part of her mental health journey has been helping others through her business.
