The Family Reentry Community Center in Bridgeport marked four years of helping people in the community on Friday.
The nonprofit helps people who are recovering from substance abuse and those who return home after time in prison.
The celebration coincided with National Recovery Month.
"It's easy to put marginalized people to the side. We can incarcerate them, we can put them under bridges, but let's try to treat them as a person, as a human, as an individual. And I think that's really what [National] Recovery Month is all about," said program manager Mark Grasso.
The nonprofit says staff and volunteers have offered free Narcan training, support groups and help in finding housing over the past four years.
