A boater received the surprise of a lifetime when he went fishing off the coast of Darien Saturday.
Chris Curran says he was on the boat with his son, Hugh, and his best friend, Henry, when they spotted a whale.
They quickly jumped into action and captured an amazing cellphone video of the encounter.
Environmentalists say whale sightings are rare in the area.
The three say the sighting has earned them bragging rights. Curran says the spectacular memory will forever be engraved in his mind.
The trio plans to spend another afternoon out on the boat soon for an upcoming birthday, and they say they're hoping to get another rare glimpse of the whale.
