Wilton officials insisted today that local liquor stores will remain closed on Sundays even if Gov. Dannel Malloy permits Sunday sales across the state. Lawmakers recently passed the measure, which Malloy is expected to sign into law. However, town attorney Ken Bernhard says a local ordinance would override the legislation and allow for a vote on the issue. "The local citizens in Wilton and the town fathers will have to decide whether they want to also permit sales on Sunday," Bernhard said. Meanwhile, some liquor store owners say they embrace the new policy because of its financial benefit and convenience for their customers. CT Senate passes Sunday liquor sales bill
