A Woodbridge teenager remains hospitalized with serious injuries stemming from an accident involving three Amity High School students.
Police say a car carrying the students lost control in Beacon Falls Saturday night and crashed into a traffic sign and telephone pole. They say 17-year-old Saldi Hyska, of Woodbridge, was driving at the time. Fire crews extricated him before he was sent to the hospital in critical condition.
Police say passengers Ryan Guarino and Matthew Johnson, both 17, were also taken to the hospital, but will be OK.
The crash marked the second incident for the community in recent weeks. Bobby Weidig, who graduated in June, died Christmas night after police say he was hit by a drunken driver.
Following the accidents, the Amity High School principal sent out an email regarding counseling services available at the school and in the area.
State police are investigating the most recent accident. They ask anyone with information to call the Troop I barracks.
