The future voters of Amity High School have made their voices heard, selecting Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) in mock presidential and congressional elections.
Both Democrats trampled their Republican opponents in the election. Obama received 885 votes to Sen. John McCain's (R-Ariz.) 325; DeLauro took in 612 votes to Republican candidate Boaz ItsHaky's 129.
DeLauro stopped by the school to greet her supporters.
"They're making their voices heard," she said. "We need the voices of young people in our public discourse today, and if we don't listen to them, we do it at our peril."
