Two troopers who placed their cruisers in the path of a wrong-way driver are being hailed as heroes by state police.
At around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday night, state police say that 63-year-old John Mysliwiec, of Shelton, entered I-95 on the exit 28 off-ramp before hitting the two cruisers blocking the highway.
Investigators say that trooper Gregory Lebeau hit the windshield with his head upon impact, but was still able to pull Mysliwiec from his burning car.
Police officials say they plan on filing charges against the confused driver. Lebeau is recovering at home.To see more on the Bridgeport police crash, click on iO Extra on Channel 612.
