We are off to our coldest start of the year yet and frigid temperatures are expected Wednesday morning.
There are many people who have to be outside working in the cold including construction workers, road crews, crossing guards, and kids waiting for the bus.
If you have to be outside for an extended period of time, doctors at Yale New Haven Health advise that you dress warmly.
Hats and gloves.
Multiple layers.
Don't leave any skin exposed.
Stay hydrated and drink water.
Doctor Justin Cahill says so far Bridgeport Hospital hasn't seen any cold related injuries, but that may change this week.
"You want to avoid hypothermia. Luckily, our bodies do warn us when you're starting to get into that position. And they warn us by shivering. So, if you start shivering, that's a good clue to get inside," said Cahill.

It's going to warm up a bit tomorrow, but the coldest weather is still ahead.
Forecasters say Saturday looks like a bone chiller with temperatures flirting around zero.
