Yale New Haven Hospital's Auxiliary Toy Closet will be accepting donations and holding raffles at Puerto Vallarta restaurants this November.
Organizers say participants can drop off checks, cash and toys at both locations.
They say it feels great to help young people during the holidays.
“I hear my wife on the Zoom meetings talking about the hospital, what they can and can't do. She started talking about the toy closet and it struck me, if anybody's got to get help, it's got to be the kids. And that is when I got together with Gigi and we put this together,” says Steve Chuckrey, of YNHH Auxiliary Toy Closet.
“No matter what we go through in our lives, a smile comes to us whenever you think of a child. So, when you in any way, shape or form can help a child, especially opening up presents, it's the most wonderful thing to feel your heart, it swells up a couple of different sizes,” says Gigi Torcasio, of YNHH Auxiliary Toy Closet.
The fundraisers will take place all day on Nov. 5 in Orange and Nov. 12 in Fairfield.
