Morgan Saunders, 17, is in her first year as a lifeguard at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk – but that didn’t stop her from making a big save.
At a crowded beach with over 60 children in her section, Saunders spotted a little girl floating face down amidst commotion and chaos.
"So I went into the emergency action plan, I blew my horn and sprinted down there," she told News 12. "I performed CPR and rescue breaths and brought her back"
Pam Ray-Luh, the aquatic director for the Norwalk Recreation & Parks Department, says it was nice to see the training paid off.
"I feel like a proud mama bear because she did an amazing job, as did the rest of the lifeguard team," she says.
The little girl has since recovered. Saunders says she hopes to meet her someday.
