A local 101-year-old veteran has broken a world record for rowing.
Sid Zacharais says he's been training to break that record since the spring.
Zacharais was joined by his family and friends at Atria Darien, a senior living community.
He rowed 1,000 meters in eight minutes and 24 seconds yesterday.
Zacharais is a Pearl Harbor and Coast Guard veteran, originally from New York City.
He says that he's glad that he can still row at 101 years old.
