Bronx Walk of Fame 2016 honorees announced
Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and the Bronx Tourism Council announced the 2016 Bronx Walk of Fame honorees Wednesday.
This year's four nominees include animator Peter Sohn, author Arlene Alda, ballet director Eduardo Vilaro and actor Vincent Pastore.
Sohn will be the first Asian American inducted onto the Walk of Fame. He is an award-winning animator and director with Pixar Studios. His credits include "Finding Nemo," "The Incredibles," and "Up." He most recently directed Pixar's 2015 feature, "The Good Dinosaur."
Alda, an award-winning photographer and author, grew up in Williamsbrige. Her work has appeared in books, magazines and galleries. Most of the books she has authored are children's books, but her latest work is titled, "Just Kids from the Bronx." The book consists of stories from over 60 accomplished Bronx residents about growing up in the borough.
Vilaro is the director of Ballet Hispanico, the nation's first and oldest Latino dance organization. He is only the second person to head the company since its founding. Vilaro has performed throughout the United States, Latin America and Europe for an audience of nearly 3 million people.
The final honoree is SAG award-winning actor Vincent Pastore. Pastore is best known for his work on the HBO series, "The Sopranos." The City Island resident has also appeared in "Goodfellas," Carlito's Way," as well as many other shows and films.
The group will be honored at the end of this year's Bronx Week, which will take place from May 5 until May 15.
