The town of Brooklyn, Connecticut boasts rural roads, autumn colors and New England charm.

The town is home to one of the state's newest covered bridges and its located in Windham County, Connecticut, nicknamed 'the quiet corner' of the state.

To get there, visitors will travel along the scenic road of Route 169.

In town, visitors will be greeted by a statue of Israel Putnam, the town's historic patriot, Brooklyn Historical Society's Marybeth Leonard says.

Leonard says Putnam marched from Brooklyn to Massachusetts and became a statesman who helped build the town's church, which still stands to this day.

The drive around the roads lead up to the town's covered bridge, which was rebuilt in 2010 with prefabricated pressure treated material, Ken Sigfridson, of Sigfridson Wood Products, says.

Sigfridson says he later approached town officials and suggested the bridge be covered to give it a more charming look.
