Business tenants affected by a massive fire two years ago Thursday are suing the developer and Stamford over what they call a lack of progress.The Yale and Towne site at the corner of Henry and Pacific streets remains desolate since the massive April 3, 2006 fire. However, the city and developer Antares claim progress is being made.

Antiques dealer Wally Meyer is among the 78 business owners suing both parties over the $40,000 worth of inventory he says he lost in the flames. The plaintiffs say they've yet to be compensated.

"The lawsuit is against the owner of the property, who was managing the property with what we claim are defective . . . fire suppression systems ? a broken sprinkler they knew was broken," says attorney David Golub.

Antares declined to comment on the suit, saying the matter is being handled by an insurance company. The company added that it is conducting environmental work at the site before proceeding.
