Connecticut commuters kept their fingers crossed that things would quickly return to normal after Wednesday?s steam pipe explosion near Grand Central Station in Manhattan.

Many who traveled into the station for work Thursday morning said they were unsure about what they would find upon arrival. Grand Central Station had to be evacuated after the explosion and certain exits were closed.

However, the station was reopened Thursday and yellow-vested Metro-North employees were on hand to help any confused commuters get to their destinations.

As of Thursday afternoon, the only remaining complication at Grand Central was the closure of two exits. Authorities did not say when the remaining exits would be reopened. Certain areas outside of the station remained blocked off as well. No one is allowed into the area between East 40th and East 43rd streets and between Third and Vanderbilt Avenues.
