Dog Day Fridays for Sept. 29
This week's dogs are up for adoption at the Town of Babylon Animal Shelter. The shelter is located at 51 Lamar St. in West Babylon. Their phone number is (631) 643-9270.
Chino is 4 years old. He was found as a stray and his owner has since made the choice to give him up for adoption. Chino lived with adults and teenagers. Chino was very jumpy and excitable when he first came into the shelter but after much work he has learned to be more calm with people and has learned all of his obedience commands. Chino is accustomed to being crated in the house and spending time in an outside pen. Chino is accustomed to being walked on a harness for exercise and playing fetch with a stick or with tennis balls. Chino is afraid of fireworks.
Gauge is 4 years old. Gauge's young owner passed away. He spent the last year with his previous owner's Mom, but he has proven to be more than she can handle at this time in her life. It was in Gauge's best interest that he was surrendered to the shelter. Gauge is energetic and has spent more time then he should have tethered outside. It is time for him to again become a companion who gets to spend lots of time with his people. Gauge can get a little pushy with his food and treats, so a home willing to work with possible guarding tendencies will be a necessity. Gauge has attended several off site events and has done very well.
Sox is between 6 to 8 years old. She was trapped while he ran loose on the Southern State Parkway. She was far from home and very worried about her unfamiliar surroundings. In the end after locating her owner, Sox was surrendered since they weren't able to provide for her any longer. Sox lived in the home with another dog and she was pretty attached to him. Now that she is separated, she is beginning to adjust to life on her own. Sox is a calm girl and she really opens up once she gets to know you.
