Stamford police are looking for the driver of an SUV who crashed into a house and drove off early Wednesday morning.
The accident happened near the corner of Henry and Garden streets in Stamford at around 2 a.m. Police say the driver hit a fence and crashed into a multifamily home, breaking a gas line.
Witnesses say they saw the driver of the SUV quickly drive away and one of the passengers flee on foot.
The cause of the crash is unknown, but 12 residents had to be evacuated. The house's residents were allowed to return, but are currently without hot water.
