Elderly man recovering after being hit by Stamford taxi
Police say an elderly man is lucky to be alive after being hit by a taxi in downtown Stamford.
It happened at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Main Street around 11:00 a.m. yesterday.
Police say Francis Monaghan, 73, was crossing the street when the car hit him in the leg.
They say the force threw him up onto the windshield and he landed in the middle of the intersection.
Police say Monaghan hit his head on the pavement when he landed, but his injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
