Ex-worker upset about handling of nursing home noose
A former employee of a Greenwich nursing home says she found a noose in her office and is upset about the way her management handled the situation.
The noose was found inside the maintenance office at Connecticut Health of Greenwich this week. Sharon Stewart was the nursing home?s administrator at the time. Stewart, who was fired Thursday, says when she saw the noose, she immediately called the head of human resources and was surprised by the response she got.
?She did tell me not to call police and do not do anything, it?s not a big deal,? Stewart says.
Stewart says she called nursing home owner Cal Moffie, who told her he?d handle it the next day. Corporate HR eventually called police the day the noose was discovered.
In a statement, Moffie said a noose ?is a reprehensible symbol. We took it with the utmost seriousness. We called police. We hope this is an isolated incident which will never be repeated.?
Moffie says Stewart was fired as a result of inexperience as an administrator.
Meanwhile, police say they have a warrant for an arrest for the noose incident, but they are waiting for approval from the state?s Attorney?s Office before it can be executed.
